The desk research phase described in WP2 of the project overview is complete. The resulting report is now available for download from the resources page.
What the report covers
The report reviews existing evidence on the relationship between occupational health and safety practice and workplace productivity across Turkey, France and Belgium, drawing on national statistics, prior ANACT and PREVENT publications, and a structured literature review carried out by Çankaya University.
Headline findings
- Across all three partner countries, absenteeism linked to poor working conditions was consistently identified as a larger cost driver than direct incident-related expenses.
- Psychosocial factors — workload and role clarity in particular — showed the strongest links to both wellbeing and output quality in the reviewed studies.
- SMEs were found to be significantly less likely than larger enterprises to run any form of structured self-assessment, motivating the design of accessible instruments in WP3.
What this shaped
These findings directly informed the design of the project's self-assessment instruments, which were piloted with enterprises later in the project — see the piloting update for results.
